Abstract
The Augustana College academic papers and theses, 1877-2024 and undated, was assembled by Special Collections staff for the purpose of keeping academic and scholarly works by Augustana faculty and students together. The collection contains academic papers, master's theses, sermons, speeches, undergraduate papers submitted for academic credit, prize winning papers, independent projects, and proceedings of the annual Celebration of Learning.

Conrad Bergendoff papers

Abstract
Conrad Bergendoff was the fifth president of Augustana College. Bergendoff was born in rural Nebraska in 1895. He attended Augustana College, and was a member of the class of 1915. He also earned a divinity degree from Augustana Seminary. After several years Bergendoff returned to the seminary as the dean, then as the president of the seminary and the college in 1935. Carl Leland Horberg was a former geology professor at Augustana College. Horberg was born in Cambridge, Illinois, in 1910. He was the first student to graduate from the newly formed department of geology in 1932. Trinity Lutheran Church was founded in 1912 in Moline, Illinois, and continues to operate as of 2017.
